Our Director
Mrs. Raisha Quinn
Mrs. Raisha Quinn has been a public
school choir teacher for 16 years. She received her Bachelor of
Science degree in K-12 music from Moorhead State University in
Moorhead, Minnesota and her Master of Music Education degree from the
University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado.
Raisha has been actively involved with
barbershopping since 2001. “Sarah and the Guys” was the first
barbershop quartet Raisha coached and they went on to a first place
finish in the Denver Mixed Quartet category. Raisha went on to
coaching up to 8 quartets per year at Clear Creek High School prior
to moving to Grand Junction in 2005. Raisha accepted the Bookcliff
Barbershop Harmony Chorus Frontline Director position in November,
2005 and has not looked back since.
Raisha has directed honor choirs and
music camps for years. Raisha has coached many choirs and has sent
numerous soloists to All State Choirs. Her students have received
superior ratings at many festivals. Raisha has judged solo and small
ensemble festivals as well as choir festivals. Her choirs have
performed for “Nuggets”, “Rockies” and “Broncos” games as
well as “CU Men’s and Women’s” games. Raisha has directed
many musicals over the years and has been the piano accompanist for
many performances. Raisha has taken many performance tours with
students and truly enjoys being on stage. She has performed as a
soloist in several large performances including “The Messiah” and
the “Faure Requiem”. She is a member of: MENC, CMEA, ACDA and
CEA. Raisha lives in Grand Junction with her husband, Dennis, and
two children, Nelson and Nolan along with their dogs, T-Bone and Pork
Chop.
Our Assistant Director
Mr. Dave HeinMr.
David Hein has been our assistant director since 2003. He
received a composite Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education from
Northern State University, Aberdeen, South Dakota in 1964 and a Master
of Arts Degree in Music from University of Northern Colorado in 1967.
Dave
has been involved in music education in the Mesa
County School District #51 from 1964-1998.
From 1964 to1976 he taught vocal
music at Palisade Junior/Senior High School and Taylor Elementary
School in Palisade. He then taught vocal music at Grand Junction
High School from 1976-1985, vocal music and drama at West Middle School
from 1993-1994,
and orchestra and vocal music at Palisade High School and Mt. Garfield
Middle School from 1994-1998.
Dave was the Supervisor of Music Education for Mesa County District #51 from 1985-1993.
Besides
public education Dave has served as the director of the Valley-Wide
Volunteer Women's Choir from 1998-2000, the director of the Men's Choir
at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church from 2001-2007, and the director
of the Celtic Singers from 1997-2007.
