“Close Harmony” is a quartet made up of members of the Bookcliff Barbershop Chorus in Grand Junction & Frank Thorne Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society . Singing together for approximately 8 1/2 years, they have been very active delivering Singing Valentines in February, singing with the chorus in their annual show, singing on the sweet Adelines shows and putting on programs for numerous organizations and private parties throughout Mesa County.
Olyn Carlson sings a very capable lead. His melodies started in 1981 in the Sterling, CO Chapter and floated to Grand Junction in 1987 where he sings lead in the Bookcliff Chorus. He has been singing Barbershop for over 27 years.
Mark Edwards is the bass. He came to the Bookcliff Chorus nine years ago as an unattached bass seeking a quartet. What a low distinctive bass voice he has.
Carroll Owen is the tenor and has been a part of the local barbershop harmony scene since 1986. He actually started out as a lead singer, but switched to tenor in order to join up with his first quartet. Carroll has sang that part ever since, bringing out those lilting high notes that top off so many chords.
Tim Winegardner sings baritone. He also began his barbershop tenure singing lead, but over the past nineteen years has transitioned into being a very accomplished baritone. Tim still gets to sing the melody every now and then, but only when the other three let him. Tim has been singing Barbershop for over 21 years.
Together they are, Close Harmony!!!!
